We start with a brand new, highly acclaimed Ender 3v2 Printer and examine every millimeter of it, tightening every nut and bolt, and squaring every corner to assure it’s optimal assembly has been performed. Then, while it’s still stock, we add the latest choice professional firmware available followed by extensive calibration. Any component that cannot be calibrated for optimal performance is replaced.
That’s when we go further, the Hero way.
On the hot end we upgrade to a precision anodized radiator and copper-plated mk8 heat block, allowing use of the widest array of heat throats and nozzle types for your specific application. Working within the Creality e3 specifications assured the printer is an incredibly well supported platform. Cooling the hot end down can get quite noisy, so we install durable Winsinn Ball Bearing Fans. To further reduce the sound pattern, we affix a velocity stack intake which diffuses intake noise by smoothing the flow of air as it enters. The hot end is then wrapped with the light weight “Smooth Fang” open source model cooling duct, which can be printed to accommodate a wide variety of fan sizes though it has proven to perform outstandingly to 65 degrees of overhang at 65mm / second*. The heat block and nozzle are exposed for easy access and great view. It’s our personal favorite.
To expedite filament management procedures we relocate the extruder to the fixed beam atop the Z-axis. The specially designed extruder mount keeps pressure off the Z-axis while you change filaments. The placement of the extruder not only provides much better access for loading, it provides a tremendous advantage when a mid-print filament swap is performed because the z-axis remains unaffected by the loading and unloading procedures. We top off the extrusion system with an open hardware, 133 step/mm dual-gear extruder to enhance precision and dramatically improve reliability.
Tying the extruder and hot end together, the Bowden tube is extended and replaced with 2mm inner diameter PTFE. (No, we don’t use Capricorn.) bound in high performance pneumatic fittings. The 2mm diameter prevents binding and accommodates bulk purchased and budget filaments without worry.
